Changing Your Address on the Civil ID

Moving to a new apartment in Kuwait? You have exactly 30 days from the date your new lease begins to inform PACI. Missing this deadline is one of the most common ways expats get hit with unexpected fines.

Address Update Process

  1. Acquire Your New Tenancy Contract

Ensure you have the original, officially stamped tenancy contract (Aqd Ijar) for your new residence. Photocopies may be rejected at the counter.

  2. Book a Meta Appointment

Log into meta.gov.kw and book an appointment with PACI. Select "Address Update" as the service reason and choose the branch corresponding to your new governorate.

  3. Visit PACI with Documents

Bring your current Civil ID, passport, tenancy contract, and a no-objection letter from your sponsor (if applicable) to the PACI office at the scheduled time.

  4. Pay Processing Fees

Once the application is approved, you will pay a 5 KD card issuance fee. If you missed the 30-day window, you must first pay the 20 KD fine via pay.gov.kw before proceeding.

The Required Documents

  • Original Tenancy Contract (Aqd Ijar): Must be signed by the landlord.
  • Your Old Civil ID & Passport: For identification verification.
  • Sponsor Permission: Depending on your visa article, an employer or sponsor NOC may be requested.
