Renewing a Domestic Worker's Civil ID (Visa 20)

Under Kuwaiti law, the renewal of an Article 20 visa (Domestic Workers, Drivers, Maids) is entirely the responsibility of the Kuwaiti sponsor. Thanks to digitalization, the Kafeel can now manage the entire process online without visiting any governate offices.

The End-to-End Sponsor Checklist

  1. Medical & Biometrics (If Applicable)

Ensure the domestic worker has no pending biometric requirements constraints. Standard renewals for existing workers usually bypass medicals.

  2. Renew Residency via MOI

The Kuwaiti sponsor must first log into the MOI e-services or the Sahel App, navigate to Expatriate Affairs, and renew the Article 20 residency (Iqama).

  3. Submit PACI Renewal

Once the MOI residency is approved, log into the PACI electronic envelope (or via Sahel PACI services) and submit the ID renewal request.

  4. Pay Fees & Request Delivery

Pay the 5 KD issuance fee. The sponsor can then request the 2 KD home delivery service to have the card sent directly to the household.
